Cycle to School Week 2024/25

From 23rd - 27th September, Little Thurrock Primary School took part in Cycle to School Week, promoted by Sustran Travel. 

On the Friday 20th September, before Cycle to School Week, all teachers shared videos with their classes provided by Sustrans, which showed practical, step-by-step guides to check if scooters and bikes are safe to ride.

Promotion

Cycle to School Week was promoted on the two weeks leading up to the event both in class and via class dojo.

 

Activities

During the week, children engaged in fun learning about the importance of active and sustainable travel. Lesson ideas were provided by Sustran travel. Here are some scooters designed by 1AS from Cycle to School Week:

 

Rewards

As an incentive to cycle or scooter to school throughout the week, each day, a bike or scooter was chosen as a winning bike or scooter. A 'Congratulations' label was placed on their transport which looked like this:

Children who received this honour, recieved a prize for cycling or scooting to school! Prizes included fun, bike spoke lights, reflective caps, flurescent drawstring bags and more!
